A well once used to draw water for clay processing has been discovered.
Work has been temporarily suspended pending a new building permit, as the find is located exactly where the kilns are due to be installed.
The Fondazione Le Fornaci di Riva San Vitale was established on 19 June 2024.
Two kilns, designed by industry specialists, will bring to life the works of artists and enthusiasts who will frequent the future Fornaci site.
Inside the historic building, an exhibition dedicated to the recovery and restoration of the Fornaci has been set up.
After three years of extensive restoration and enhancement works, the site is ready to open on 6 and 7 September 2025, with a ceremony involving institutions, professionals and the local community.
