The Municipality of Riva San Vitale and the Le Fornaci Foundation of Riva San Vitale are pleased to announce the inauguration of the Fornaci district, which will take place on Saturday 6 September and Sunday 7 September.
This milestone marks the conclusion of a three-year journey of recovery, restoration, and artistic, architectural, and engineering enhancement, made possible through the collaboration between institutions, professionals, and the local community. It is a gesture of love for the village’s history and an investment in the cultural future of the community.
The historic structures have been transformed into a center of excellence for culture and education dedicated to ceramics and terracotta craftsmanship, with the aim of creating a dynamic and inspiring environment where artists, artisans, and enthusiasts can meet, learn, and share skills.
To symbolize the synergies the project seeks to promote, an exhibition by the artistic collective MADEinNOVE will be inaugurated for the occasion. The collective comes from the town of Nove, internationally renowned for its ceramic tradition.
The artists will present a selection of works combining the technical and cultural heritage of clay craftsmanship with expressions of contemporary art. The exhibition will remain open to visitors throughout the month of September at Le Fornaci.
During the weekend, visitors will be able to explore the workspaces and the exhibition, and attend talks and testimonies related to the architectural and engineering realization of the project, led by architect Enrico Sassi and engineer Galfetti. Danilo Pellegrini will also present a historical account of the tradition of kiln workers, as detailed in the attached program.
The Municipality and the Foundation therefore invite all citizens, as well as lovers of art, culture, and traditions, to take part in this important moment of celebration and shared rebirth.
We look forward to welcoming you!
