Myriam Maier, born in 1966 in Neuchâtel and raised in Geneva, moved to Ticino in 1991. She studied foreign languages and literature at IULM and Eastern languages at the Civica Scuola in Milan. Her interest in figurative sculpture began in the 1980s, but from 1995 she decided to dedicate herself to ceramics, deepening craft techniques such as wheel-throwing, firing, and glazing. In 2001 she completed an internship at the AGIR Céramique school in France.
In 2002 she opened her own ceramics studio in Mendrisio, which she moved in 2009 to Morbio Inferiore, where she develops her personal production and teaches courses for children and adults. She regularly exhibits her work, which is included in private and public collections, including the Fine Arts Collection of the Canton of Ticino and the OBV Hospital collection in Mendrisio. Since 2011 she has been a member of the Swissceramics association.
