Martha Pachon Rodriguez

Martha Pachón Rodríguez, born in Santa Fe de Bogotá, Colombia, graduated in Fine Arts from the Universidad Surcolombiana in Neiva. After moving to Italy, she continued her training at the Istituto d’Arte per la Ceramica Ballardini in Faenza, specializing in stoneware and porcelain. An internationally recognized artist and craftswoman, she combines high-level Italian craftsmanship, contemporary design, and the Andean and Afro-Caribbean influences of her origins in her work.

In her studio in Faenza, she creates porcelain sculptures as well as light and conceptual installations, resulting from research into translucency, color, and ancient porcelain techniques reinterpreted in a contemporary way. Her work explores themes such as magic, the sacredness of costume, eroticism, and migration, giving life to highly refined technical creations. Co-founder and former director of the Faenza Art Ceramic Center, she is a member of the IAC – International Academy of Ceramics.
