Discover the unpredictable charm of Horse Raku, a ceramic technique in which fire and horsehair become artistic decorating tools. During the workshop, we will create pieces with simple shapes, smooth surfaces and carefully polished finishes, designed to highlight the distinctive marks left on the clay. After an initial firing at 960°C, the pieces will undergo a second firing in the outdoor gas kiln, set in the beautiful garden of Le Fornaci. While still glowing hot, they will be removed from the kiln and strands of horsehair will be applied to the surface. As the hair burns on contact with the hot clay, it creates unique lines, patterns and markings that can never be exactly repeated. The result is a one-of-a-kind ceramic piece with striking and distinctive graphic effects.
The workshop is open to adults and young people aged 15 and over, and no previous experience is required.
